Info
Nine Men’s Morris — Line up three pieces to remove your opponent’s, on a 9-piece, 6-piece or 12-piece board. Play against 3 AI levels or with a friend on one phone. 9 languages.
About the Game
You place your pieces on the board, slide them along the lines, and try to get three of your pieces in a straight line. Three in a row is called a mill, and every time you make one you remove one of your opponent’s pieces. Leave your opponent with two pieces, or with no legal move, and you win.
The rules are simple enough to play right away, and there is plenty to discover: opening and closing a mill again and again to keep capturing, or threatening two lines at once.
How to Play
- Placing: take turns putting the pieces in your hand on empty points. The points you can use are marked with blue dots
- Moving: once all pieces are placed, tap one of yours and slide it along a line to a neighboring empty point. No jumping
- Flying: when you have only 3 pieces left on the board you may fly to any empty point (can be switched off on the home screen)
- Mills: three of your pieces in a straight line is a mill — tap an opponent piece to remove. You may only take pieces that are not in a mill, unless all of them are
- Draws: the same position three times, or 50 moves in the moving phase without a capture
Boards and Modes
- Three boards: Nine (9 pieces, the default), Six (6 pieces, a smaller and faster board) and Twelve (12 pieces, with diagonal lines that also make mills)
- Vs Computer, 3 levels: Easy is about even for someone who just learned the game. Normal beats Easy fairly reliably, and Hard thinks for about 0.6 seconds a move and looks far ahead
- Pick who goes first: you, the computer or random
- 2-Player: take turns on one phone
