Who runs this

Hello. I’m the solo developer behind Fadongkwon Soft.

I’m a Data Scientist by day, and I’m a father of two. Since late 2024 I’ve been building and shipping apps by myself, using evenings after work and weekends. Planning, development, design, store submissions, and this blog — all of it is mine.

There was nothing dramatic behind starting. Watching the costs of raising children climb, I wanted to build something that would accumulate value over time instead of just spending hours. So I ship them one at a time and record what I learn along the way.

Where the name comes from

• My children’s given name is Ryu.
• As a kid I played the Street Fighter arcade game a lot, and it has a character named Ryu.
• Ryu’s signature move — throwing an energy wave — is ‘Hadouken’ in Japanese, but in Korea it was known as Padongkwon.
• I’m their father, so I could have left the ‘Pa’ alone, but I changed it to F to carry Family as well.
• And that is how Fadongkwon came about.

Logo

The F in Fadongkwon was drawn by overlaying the joystick motion you use to perform that move in the game with the shape of the energy wave itself.

What’s here

This site is both a home for the apps and a working notebook. Three things, mainly.

1. A tarot card meaning dictionary The meaning of all 78 tarot cards, written one card at a time. The artwork is drawn in-house, and the interpretations are written from scratch based on the traditional Rider–Waite imagery. The full list is at Tarot Dictionary.

2. Learning and exam material Notes gathered while helping my own children with Korean literacy and arithmetic, plus material on certification exams — systems, schedules, study methods. These are topics I actually had to research to build the apps, so I write up the parts likely to help someone looking for the same thing.

3. Development records What happens when you build and ship apps: where store reviews rejected me, how platform policies differ, and how one person keeps dozens of apps alive. The thinner the existing material on a topic, the more detail I try to give. The mistakes start with What I learned shipping 8 apps as a solo developer with a day job and continue through the whole dev log.

The apps

Learning apps built for my own kids, party apps for gatherings, exam question banks, fortune-telling content, and a set of small mini games. They’re on Google Play and Apps in Toss (Toss mini apps).

The list keeps growing, so it lives on its own page and updates itself from the registry every app shares.
