Hex — Connection Board Game — Link your two sides of a 7×7, 9×9 or 11×11 hex board first. Play 3 AI levels or a friend on one phone. On Google Play, in 9 languages.
About the Game
Red and Blue take turns placing one stone at a time on a diamond-shaped board of hexagons. Red wants to link the top and bottom sides, Blue the left and right sides. The first player to connect their two sides with an unbroken chain of touching stones wins.
That is the whole rule set, yet a move that blocks your opponent often builds your own path too, so every stone counts. And Hex has no draws — someone always connects before the board fills up.
How to Play
- Tap an empty hexagon once and your stone is placed. Stones never move and are never captured
- The colored board edges show whose side is whose: red bands at the top and bottom, blue bands on the left and right
- The chips above the board show whose turn it is and which way you need to connect (top↔bottom / left↔right)
- Corner cells touch both sides
- When someone wins, the connecting path lights up in gold
- Tip: two stones that share two empty neighbors form a bridge — if your opponent blocks one cell, take the other. Take the center early and stretch out with bridges
Boards and Rule Options
- Three board sizes: 7×7, 9×9 (default) and 11×11. Small boards are quick; bigger boards reward longer reading
- Swap rule (on or off): moving first is a real advantage in Hex, so right after Red’s first stone Blue may take that stone once. It turns into a Blue stone on the mirrored cell, and it is Red’s turn again
Computer Levels
- Easy: tuned so that someone who just learned the rules wins about half the time. It never misses an immediate win, but sometimes plays in odd places
- Normal: always blocks when it must. A newcomer wins roughly one game in ten, and it is clearly stronger than Easy
- Hard: guards its bridges and reads further ahead. It thinks up to 2 seconds per move and almost never loses to Normal
- Choose your color: Red (moves first), Blue (moves second) or random
Features
- 2-Player mode on the same device (the swap rule works there too)
- Undo, last-move marker and resign
- Win/loss record for each board size and level
- A how-to-play guide for first-timers; plays in 9 languages
