Info
Hangul Monsters is a Korean-learning game for kids: listen to native-quality voice clips and catch monsters by picking or saying the right answer. Free basics (consonants, vowels, Ga-na-da), premium word packs via one-time in-app purchase. No ads.
Update (2026-09-05): every in-app purchase has been removed and all modes are now free. The story is in Why we went free.
Learning Hangul by Catching Monsters
This is a learning game where a child gets comfortable with Hangul by listening to a sound and saying it back. Every correct answer catches one more monster, and that small reward is enough to keep a child playing another round on their own.
- 🦉 Consonants and vowels — hear a sound and pick the matching letter, like ㄱ (g) or ㅏ (a) (free)
- 🐙 Consonant names — learn what each letter is called: 기역 (giyeok), 니은 (nieun), 디귿 (digeut) (free)
- 👾 Ga-na-da syllables — consonant × vowel syllables such as 가 (ga) and 나 (na), with a selectable range (free)
- 🦖🐲🧟🦑 Four word packs — no final consonant, with a final consonant (받침), compound vowels, double consonants (free since 2026-09-05)
- 🐢 Sentence reading — read the sentence clearly into the microphone and it is scored automatically (free since 2026-09-05)
Every question is spoken by a native-quality neural voice, and the question bank holds around 480 words and 240 sentences, so each round of 20 questions is drawn fresh at random. There are no ads.
