The Apps in Toss (Toss mini app) edition of Hangul Monsters is out. If you have the Toss app, it opens and runs immediately — handy if installing yet another app on a child’s phone has been more trouble than it is worth.

The Toss edition concentrates on listening. Every question is spoken by a native-quality neural voice, and each correct answer catches one more monster.

• 🦉 Consonants and vowels — hear a sound and pick the matching letter, like ㄱ (g) or ㅏ (a) (free)
• 🐙 Consonant names — learn what each letter is called: 기역 (giyeok), 니은 (nieun), 디귿 (digeut) (free)
• 👾 Ga-na-da syllables — consonant × vowel syllables such as 가 (ga) and 나 (na), with a selectable range (free)
• 🦖🐲🧟🦑 Four word packs — no final consonant, with a final consonant (받침), compound vowels, double consonants (unlockable)

A round is 20 questions drawn at random, so the mix is different every time, and there are no ads. The sentence reading mode, where a child reads out loud into the microphone, is on the Google Play edition.
