Upright, Temperance means slowly and skillfully tuning different things together. It is a time when two elements that easily collide — work and rest, the ideal and the real, you and the other person — get joined without friction. If Death (13) was where you cleared one thing out and emptied the space, Temperance (14) is the stage where you fill that space back up little by little, in the right proportion. What this card stresses is not dramatic change but gradual improvement.
Reversed — scales tipped to one side
Reversed points to a balance that has broken. You lean too far to one side, or you mix in a hurry and throw things out of joint instead. Pouring yourself into work alone and losing the other areas of life, or failing to manage your emotions and making an unreasonable decision, both belong here. If the card is reversed, simply writing a list of what is too much and what is too little helps you find the balance point again.
